In Honor of Bruce’s Hero

On May 11, 2019, the annual Dylan Flinchum Dinosaur Stomp was held at Maxim Glen Park in Hopatcong, New Jersey. Dylan Flinchum is a ten year old boy with MLD—Metachromatic Leukodystrophy. Dylan and his parents, Michael and Melissa, have supported Bruce throughout his journey with pancreatic cancer. And Bruce has supported them as Dylan fights a terminal disease. When Bruce was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer three and a half years ago, his first thought wasn’t of himself or what lies ahead. His first thought was of Dylan. He told me that whatever he was about to face couldn’t be as bad as what Dylan goes through on a daily basis. Bruce’s bond with Dylan grew and strengthened after his PC diagnosis. He continually looked to Dylan for strength, hope, and inspiration. Dylan became Bruce’s “Super Hero,” a term Bruce always used to describe Dylan. Whenever Bruce had a setback, he’d always say the same thing: “This is nothing compared to what Dylan goes through.” Bruce lost his battle with cancer in January. But Dylan’s fight goes on. For those of you suffering with long term illnesses, if you need your own little Super Hero to inspire you, please go to the Dylan Flinchum Rock On Foundation:
